Description

How do you feel about rediscovering Korean heritage artifacts hidden around the world and using them in your daily life? This natural fabric depicts the beauty of traditional Korean pottery using faded and subtle colors that give a warm touch.

Meaningful motifs are drawn on pots to convey hopes and dreams for the future. Butterflies are often associated with transformation, rebirth, and freedom. They are seen as creatures that undergo a remarkable metamorphosis, representing the journey of personal growth and change. They also symbolize joy, happiness, and the fleeting nature of beauty. The portrayal of butterflies on Korean traditional jars reflects these symbolic meanings and serves as a reminder of the cyclical nature of life and the beauty found in embracing change.

This cultural product was awarded the “K-Ribbon” mark by the Korea Craft & Design Foundation and recognized to represent Korea’s unique cultural values.

Artist Profile

Jeongeun Kang, a South Korean artist, experiments with unusual combinations of new and old materials with a focus on artistic value, to resurface the origins of traditional Korean culture. Since her work is based on artifacts dating back thousands of years, she derives a lot of inspiration from artifacts displayed in museums and galleries in Korea and abroad. She claims that there are still many patterns and artifacts that are unfamiliar to her, even though she was born and raised in Korea and has lived in Korea her entire life. Through her brand VONZ, she is working towards preserving Korean traditions by integrating unfamiliar cultural heritage into everyday life.
